As a Co-Instructor for the Pisgah Coaching Institute (PCI), I’ve spent the last year alongside Master Coach Brian Jaudon teaching his incredible whole-system methodology to coaches globally. Yet, watching Tim Fortescue interview Brian today, I felt that familiar surge of inspiration I also felt in 2021 when I took a course Brian co-instructed for the IFS Institute, Coaching for Self Leadership: An Introduction to Internal Family Systems.
Today I listened, and it was not just a discussion; it was a potent reminder of why Pisgah's methodology changes lives, mine included.
You can find the podcast Unlocking Your Potential: IFS and Whole System Coaching here, and if you're inclined, make some time to browse Tim Fortescue's website to explore his vast podcast library and other generous offerings.
Here are the moments from that talk that hit on a personal level:
The Vision: It's the "Who" and the "Feel"
Most people talk about vision, but when Brian framed it as asking: "Who am I ready to become? And what do I want to feel and experience along the way?" the shift was palpable. It is easy to focus on external achievements in today's fast-paced world, but the PCI methodology invites us to sit with the internal state. That is the difference between having a goal versus a living, breathing vision that truly pulls you forward in an honoring way. When I first journeyed through Brian's Visioning process, accessing that future energetic state felt like stepping into a truth I had not yet consciously owned. It was profoundly clarifying and remains the foundation of my practice today.
Befriending the Protectors
The integration of IFS (Internal Family Systems) truly rounds out the blended PCI methodology. I remember the impact I felt when Brian introduced the Vision Parts Map to his inaugural cohort in 2023. Reflecting on my own experience, I know that without inviting all my parts, the excited, the terrified, and the many others, into the conversation, my vision was just a flat aspiration. The coaching work we do is not about crushing resistance; it is about acknowledging the parts that are afraid of the change and bringing them into alignment. As Brian emphasized, this step prevents the vision from being abandoned.
Claiming My Gifts (And Dealing with My Fears)
The Gift Development Pillar is essential for me personally and as a coach. We are talking about our innate superpowers, not skills we acquire, but natural abilities we were born with. When Brian explained that we often have parts that are terrified of the gift seeing the light of day, I felt it and believe every coach knows that vulnerability! It takes real, structured work to fully embrace our superpowers. The Five Stages of Gift Development is a path to move from simply identifying a gift to truly receiving, honoring, and offering it to the world. It is an energetic claiming, and it is essential for our system's integrity.
Divine Contract and the .0001%
The closing moments of the conversation between Tim and Brian hit the core of why I am honored to be a part of PCI's faculty. We are all looking for community and connection. We are all trying to figure out where we fit in the world.
Brian talked about living into our divine contract, which means discovering why we are on this planet and what we are meant to do every day. It is not about serving everyone; it is about finding our specific audience. I deeply believe in Brian's intention to find the .0001% of coaches, practitioners, and wellness professionals who will benefit most from the depth of his work.
If you are a professional who recognizes that the path to transformation requires aligning your Vision, Parts, Gifts, Archetypes, and other Internal Influences, you are that person. This methodology is not just theory; it is the rigorous, heartfelt path to making your boldest vision a reality.
Or maybe you are someone who is inspired to be coached with this methodology! If that's true, PCI has a fantastic affiliate coaching program where you can find those who have trained under Brian. https://www.pisgahcoaching.com/affiliatecoaching.
This is work that has fundamentally changed how I view my purpose, for which I am grateful.
Thank you, Tim, for another wonderful podcast.
