Pondering Possibility

What is something you'd like to feel or experience more in life? This question can tap into something deeper within all of us. Maybe it's finding pockets of peace in the everyday rush, feeling a richer sense of belonging with the people around us, or moving through our days with a stronger sense of "this is what I'm meant to do."
Have you identified what it is that you would like to experience or feel more of? What is helping you move towards achieving it? What is holding you back? On our own, uncovering the answers can feel like navigating a maze. IFS (Internal Family Systems) recognizes that our inner world is comprised of a core Self and parts. The Self is naturally calm, curious, and connected. Parts, before taking on burdens (extreme beliefs, emotions, or roles often stemming from difficult experiences), exist in their natural, unburdened states, with their valuable qualities and positive intentions. Upon taking on burdens parts often become extreme. For example, a part that withdraws might have originally held the quality of needing quiet reflection. A part that seeks intense sensations might have held the energy of joy and aliveness. Without burdens, parts are more flexible, collaborative, and less extreme in their expressions, contributing to the overall well-being of the system under the natural leadership of the Self.
By gently exploring these inner voices and their roles, coaching helps to understand each part through a compassionate and curious exploration. Aligning parts in support of the whole system can support us in experiencing or feeling more of those things we identified for ourselves with that question above.
